Commercial Refurbishment

We plan and deliver refurbishment projects that renew and reconfigure commercial buildings for safe, efficient use.

From light refresh to full strip‑out and reconfiguration

We deliver public and private sector refurbishments across a wide range of properties, including offices, schools, healthcare facilities, retail, leisure and industrial sites. Our teams handle complex schemes to agreed budgets, programmes and specifications.

  • Project scopes can include surveys and feasibility, design coordination, strip‑out, structural modifications, building envelope repairs, M&E upgrades, interior finishes and full commissioning. We manage the process from early planning through to handover, so your building is ready for day‑to‑day use.

  • Working in occupied environments is a core part of our service. We phase activities, plan out‑of‑hours works where needed, and maintain safe access for staff and visitors. All projects are delivered in line with CDM and Building Regulations, with a clear quality regime and records for compliance.

  • Outcomes focus on performance and value: improved layouts, better occupant comfort, reduced energy use, accessible facilities and longer service life for key assets.

Surveys and feasibility

Before work begins, we’ll carry out detailed condition surveys and feasibility studies to assess the best options for your refurbishment, identify risks and calculate the most cost-efficient approach.

Fire safety and compliance

As part of a refurbishment, we can integrate new fire detection systems, alarms, emergency lighting, and suppression, coordinated with the existing building fire strategy and fully tested before handover.

Building envelope and façades

We can design or install new or replacement roofing, cladding, glazing and masonry, or carry out repairs to address water ingress, insulation gaps and overall aesthetics.

Interiors and finishes

We install partitions, ceilings, doors, floors and wall finishes to refresh and reconfigure interior spaces for new usage requirements, improve acoustics and climate control and enhance occupant comfort.

FAQ’s

  • Our commercial refurbishment projects range from light-touch projects focused on refreshing decorative aspects to more in-depth programmes of work which involve significant structural alterations, full MEP system replacement, building envelope repairs and other major changes. Whatever you’re looking for in terms of a refurbishment project, our team will be happy to scope it out.

  • As you would expect, there’s a lot of variance, due to the unique scope and objectives of each project. But as a guide, at the lower end we can complete smaller single-space projects requiring surface-level alterations, furnishing and finishes within 4 to 8 weeks, whereas multi-room projects may be closer to two or three months, and the largest refurbishments – for example, a large building with substantial work involved – can run up to 12 months.

  • Yes, we’re happy to work on active sites, and we have strategies in place to do so safely and with minimal disruption. We sequence activities, using out‑of‑hours working for the most disruptive activities. For work carried out while people are using the space, we can cordon off working zones, set up safe access routes and use noise, dust and vibration controls to allow business to continue in one area of the site while we work on another.

  • Yes, in many cases you will. Planning permission may be required for external alterations or changes of use, and building control approval is needed for material alterations to structure, fire safety or services. We can help with the process, providing technical information in the approved formats and liaising with the relevant agencies to streamline applications and enable us to start work as soon as possible.

  • We understand that clients may be concerned about mounting costs over the project lifespan. To avoid these concerns, we provide a clear scope at the outset, with all costs itemised and risk assessments carried out to identify any areas where additional costs could occur – so you can make a fully informed decision before any work takes place. During the project, we keep all stakeholders up to date through regular reporting and change management sessions.
